Thermo mechanical analysis aims, as its name suggests, at simulating the coupling between the thermal state of a structure and its mechanical behavior. In general, the structure’s temperature field is considered as the input, causing a thermal expansion of the studied pieces. If the structure is bridled this may cause a non-zero stress field. Most of these couplings are sequential (chaining) where the temperature field on the structure under study is not meant to be changed by its mechanical behavior.
